Interview FastaSEO

Back to Blog

This is an interview with Caitlin Christensen, SEO specialist and creator of FastaSEO, the only SEO tool built specifically for Showit.

Over the years, Caitlin has helped hundreds of businesses improve their SEO and seen the same problems appear again and again. Beautiful websites that search and AI struggle to read. Designers who genuinely want to include SEO but don’t know what to fix. Business owners who know SEO matters but have no idea where to start.

In this interview, she answers the questions she gets asked most often about FastaSEO, Showit SEO and what it takes to get found in modern search.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your Showit site is actually launch-ready, this is for you.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Caitlin Christensen and I’m an SEO specialist with more than six years of experience helping businesses improve their visibility in search engines. I specialise in SEO for Showit websites and have spent years helping creative businesses attract more organic traffic and build websites that perform well in search.

What is FastaSEO?

FastaSEO is an SEO tool built specifically for Showit websites.

Unlike generic SEO platforms, FastaSEO understands how Showit works and where its SEO challenges exist. It helps users identify issues, optimise their websites and ensure their beautiful designs are also search engine friendly.

The goal is simple: keep the website you love while making it easier for Google and AI search platforms to understand and recommend it.

On the left, a person admires a visually appealing website labelled “Humans See” with design, images and branding. On the right, a friendly robot reviews the website’s structure, content and technical signals under “AI Search Platforms See.”

What problem does FastaSEO solve?

One of the biggest misconceptions about SEO is that if a website looks great to humans then Google understands it too. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works.

Search engines use bots, often called crawlers or spiders, to scan your website. They’re constantly reading your pages and trying to understand what your business does, what each page is about and whether it’s relevant for someone’s search. If they can’t understand your content clearly, they’ll simply move on to another website, often your competitor’s.

FastaSEO solves this problem by making sure your website speaks the language that search engines understand. It identifies SEO issues that could prevent your site from being indexed or ranked effectively and guides you through fixing them.

Beyond SEO, FastaSEO also acts like a final quality check for your website. It can flag issues such as broken buttons, missing elements and other problems that could create a poor user experience or cost you potential customers. Think of it as an assistant that reviews your website before you hit publish, helping ensure everything is working exactly as it should.

Why is FastaSEO different from other SEO tools?

There really isn’t another tool quite like FastaSEO.

First, FastaSEO is not a replacement for Showit. Instead, it works alongside it. Think of it this way: Showit + FastaSEO = a beautiful website that’s also optimised for search.

Many popular SEO tools focus on a single area. Platforms like Ubersuggest and SEMrush are fantastic for keyword research. Tools like Rank Math and Yoast are built for WordPress and primarily help optimise blog posts. Other services, like PageSpeed Insights, provide technical reports but can feel overwhelming and often highlight issues without explaining whether they’re actually important or how to fix them.

FastaSEO takes a different approach. It’s built specifically for Showit, so it understands the platform’s unique strengths and weaknesses. Instead of giving you a long list of confusing warnings, it identifies actionable issues that genuinely matter and walks you through how to fix them.

The goal isn’t just to tell you something is wrong. It’s to help you solve it quickly and confidently, even if you’re not an SEO expert.

Why do I call FastaSEO revolutionary?

I call FastaSEO revolutionary because it makes expert level SEO guidance accessible in a way that simply hasn’t existed for Showit users before.

Traditionally, optimising a website like this required hiring an SEO specialist and investing thousands of dollars. Depending on the size of the site, a professional optimisation could easily cost several thousand dollars and take many hours of manual work.

FastaSEO dramatically speeds up that process. Instead of spending days auditing a website or paying for a full service, users can uncover important SEO issues, understand exactly what needs fixing and start making improvements themselves in a fraction of the time.

It doesn’t replace the value of an SEO specialist, but it bridges the gap by giving business owners access to expert knowledge and actionable recommendations that were previously only available through expensive one on one services. That’s what makes it such a game changer.

Why did I create FastaSEO?

I created FastaSEO because I kept seeing the same problem over and over again. Many Showit website owners genuinely needed SEO help but couldn’t justify the cost of hiring a specialist to optimise their entire site.

For a while, I offered SEO audits where I would identify every issue and ask clients to implement the fixes themselves. While the intention was good, the results often weren’t. When I checked those websites later, many of the recommendations had been implemented incorrectly or important details had been missed.

That’s when I realised there had to be a better solution.

FastaSEO was built to bridge the gap between expensive done for you services and confusing DIY audits. Instead of simply telling users what is wrong, it guides them through the fixes and checks every detail consistently.

One of the biggest advantages of software is consistency. Even experienced SEO specialists can occasionally overlook small issues during a manual review. FastaSEO performs the same checks every time, helping ensure that nothing important slips through the cracks.

Ultimately, I built it to make high quality SEO guidance more accessible. Every Showit business deserves the opportunity to have a website that looks incredible and is properly optimised for search, regardless of their budget.

Who is FastaSEO designed for?

FastaSEO is built specifically for Showit users. If your website is on Squarespace, WordPress or another platform, it won’t provide the same value because it’s designed around the unique structure and SEO challenges of Showit.

The primary audiences for FastaSEO include:

  • Showit website designers who want to deliver truly SEO optimised websites. Many designers include basic SEO in their packages, but in my experience important elements are often missed. That’s not because they’re bad designers. It’s because web design and SEO are two different skill sets. FastaSEO helps bridge that gap.
  • Designers who want to offer SEO as an additional service. By using FastaSEO, agencies and freelancers can confidently provide more value to clients while creating an additional revenue stream.
  • Business owners who built their own Showit websites. If you’re comfortable making edits in Showit, FastaSEO gives you step by step guidance to improve your site’s SEO without needing to hire an expert.
  • Showit template designers. Whether you’re creating templates for clients or selling them online, FastaSEO is an excellent final quality check to ensure your work is search friendly as well as visually appealing.

At its core, FastaSEO is for anyone who wants to get the most out of their Showit website and make sure it has the best possible foundation for search visibility.

Can beginners use FastaSEO?

Absolutely.

You don’t need to be an SEO professional to use FastaSEO. The platform is designed to guide users through the optimisation process in a straightforward way.

A basic understanding of how to edit your Showit website will make implementation easier, but the SEO knowledge itself is built into the platform.

Will FastaSEO help my website rank higher on Google?

FastaSEO is designed to improve your website’s SEO foundation, which can increase its chances of performing better in Google and other search experiences, including AI powered results.

For established websites, it’s common to discover technical issues and missed optimisation opportunities that have built up over time. Fixing those problems can make it easier for search engines to understand your content and may lead to improved visibility and rankings.

For brand new websites, FastaSEO helps you start on the right foot. Instead of launching with hidden SEO issues, you can build a strong foundation from day one and avoid many of the mistakes that are difficult to fix later.

Of course, no tool can guarantee rankings. SEO depends on many factors including competition, content quality and search intent. However, ensuring your website is technically sound and properly optimised gives you the best possible chance of succeeding in search.

How does SEO actually work?

At its core, SEO is about helping search engines understand your website and trust that it’s a valuable result for users.

Whether someone is searching on Google or using an AI powered search experience, the goal is the same: provide the best possible answer to the user’s question. To do that, search engines use automated bots, often called crawlers or spiders, to scan websites across the internet and collect information about their content.

When these bots visit your website, they need to be able to clearly understand what your pages are about. If your site is confusing or missing important SEO signals, they may struggle to interpret it and your competitors could be shown instead.

Once a search engine has gathered information, it uses complex algorithms to decide which websites deserve to appear for different searches. Every platform has its own ranking systems, but they all aim to surface the most relevant and trustworthy content.

One major part of SEO, and the area FastaSEO focuses on, is making sure those bots can properly crawl and understand your website. Without that foundation, it’s much harder to perform well in search.

The other key element is trust. Search engines look for signals across the web that indicate your business is legitimate and authoritative. That includes factors like backlinks, citations, reviews, mentions and other indicators that show you’re a credible source worth recommending.

Successful SEO combines both: a technically optimised website that search engines can understand and a strong online presence that demonstrates trust and authority.

Can FastaSEO replace an SEO specialist?

FastaSEO replaces one of the key services that an SEO specialist provides: auditing and optimising the technical and on page foundations of a Showit website. For many businesses, that’s an incredibly valuable step and can make a significant difference to their site’s performance.

However, SEO is much bigger than a checklist.

You’re competing against other businesses that are all trying to rank for the same keywords. Success often requires strategy, competitor analysis, content planning, keyword research and ongoing decision making. That’s where an experienced SEO specialist can add enormous value.

Think of FastaSEO as an essential part of the SEO process rather than the entire process. It helps ensure your website is properly optimised and easy for search engines to understand, while an SEO specialist can develop the broader strategy needed to outperform competitors and drive long term growth.

What are the biggest SEO mistakes website owners make?

The biggest mistake I see is business owners launching a website and giving almost no thought to SEO.

I’ve worked with businesses that have been online for years and could have been attracting consistent organic traffic if they had invested just a little time into building a solid SEO foundation. Even something as simple as properly optimising their website early on could have put them in a much stronger position today.

The good news is that it’s never too late to start. Whether your website is six months old or ten years old, improving your SEO can still have a meaningful impact, especially as AI powered search continues to evolve.

The second biggest mistake is trying to do SEO without understanding what “good” actually looks like.

Many people read that they should write blog posts or optimise their pages, but producing low quality SEO can be just as ineffective as doing nothing at all. In some cases, poor practices can even damage your website’s credibility or make it harder to compete.

That’s why it’s important to follow proven best practices, use reliable tools and focus on creating genuinely helpful, well optimised content rather than simply checking boxes.

Does FastaSEO only work with Showit?

Right now, FastaSEO is built exclusively for Showit websites.

That’s one of the reasons it’s such a unique product. Instead of trying to support every website platform, FastaSEO focuses entirely on Showit and is designed around its specific structure, features and SEO challenges.

If you use another platform, such as Squarespace or WordPress, FastaSEO isn’t the right fit at this stage. However, I’m always listening to feedback from users. If there’s enough demand for additional platforms in the future, expanding beyond Showit is definitely something I’d consider.

Can I use FastaSEO for free?

Yes. You can try FastaSEO for free before purchasing.

To optimise your entire website, you’ll need a paid licence. During beta, FastaSEO is available for $99 and includes 12 months of access, allowing you to continually optimise your website as it evolves.

How much does FastaSEO cost?

FastaSEO is currently available for $99 while in beta.

This introductory pricing gives early users access to the platform as it continues to evolve and improve. Your purchase includes a 12 month licence, allowing you to optimise your website, revisit your reports and continue refining your SEO as your site grows.

Considering that hiring an SEO specialist to perform a similar optimisation can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, FastaSEO offers an affordable way for Showit users to build a strong SEO foundation themselves.

What is one thing I wish every business owner understood about SEO?

If something in SEO sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Over the years, I’ve seen countless shortcuts and “secret hacks” that promise instant rankings or overnight success. While some of these tactics might deliver short term gains, search engines eventually catch up and businesses often pay the price through lost rankings or penalties.

SEO has changed dramatically over the years and it’s continuing to evolve with AI powered search. The platforms may change and the algorithms may become more sophisticated, but one principle has remained constant: creating genuine value and following ethical SEO practices wins in the long run.

I always encourage business owners to think long term. Instead of chasing shortcuts like spammy backlinks or manipulative tactics, invest in building a high quality website, publishing useful content and creating a strong foundation that search engines can trust.

Sustainable SEO isn’t about tricking the algorithm. It’s about making it easy for search engines and AI systems to recognise that your business deserves to be recommended.

How is AI changing SEO?

AI is transforming the way people search for information and I believe we’re only at the beginning of that shift.

In the future, searching the web will likely feel completely different from the traditional experience of typing a query into Google, clicking through pages of links and finding the answer yourself. Looking back, today’s search experience may feel as outdated as researching in a library before the internet existed.

But while the interface is changing, the fundamentals remain surprisingly similar.

AI platforms still need trustworthy information to generate answers. They rely on understanding websites, identifying credible sources and surfacing businesses that appear authoritative and relevant. That means having a well optimised website is just as important as ever.

The difference is that business owners now need to think beyond Google. AI search tools and emerging platforms are creating new opportunities to be discovered and the landscape will continue to evolve over time.

Rather than seeing AI as a threat to SEO, I see it as an exciting evolution. Businesses that invest in strong website foundations, helpful content and ethical optimisation will be in the best position to benefit from whatever comes next.

If I had to describe FastaSEO in one sentence
